Canonical announced on Tuesday it would release an Ubuntu variant for Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs) dubbed Ubuntu Mobile. It is due to release this spring and will…. if your ready for this…. have iphone like gestures such as swiping through menus and websites. The OS has a scrolling visual front end based on Flash or Clutter. It will have an on screen keyboard since it is designed to operate solely with your fingers! The Ubuntu Mobile MIDs will support: 3D through OpenGL, 3G cellular internet access, Wi-Fi, WiMAX, GPS, Bluetooth, USB, cameras, headphone jacks and mics.
